Priest Blames God For His Kiddie Porn Collection

A priest says he downloaded child porn to ‘get revenge on God’ for his poker losses | Miami Herald

A former Catholic priest has come up with a novel excuse for downloading and distributing child pornography. According to a report in the Scranton Times Tribune, he told a Wayne County court that he did it to get revenge on God because of his gambling addiction!

The Rev. Kevin A. Gugliotta, 55, a resident of Mahwah, New Jersey and a priest at the Holy Spirit Church in Union, New Jersey, was arrested in September 2016 and charged with 20 counts of downloading child pornography and 20 counts of disseminating images of children involved in sexual acts. He plea-bargained this down to one admitted case of disseminating child pornography in return for the other 39 charges being dismissed.

According to a report in WBRE, pre-trial reports show that he told probation officials that he was a poker player and when he lost he felt like God was attacking him. In order to get revenge on God, Gugliotta decided to upload the child porn. Some of the images he uploaded were of boys as young as eight or ten years-old.

Because he pleaded guilty, he was sentence to just between 11.5 and 23.5 months in prison. Taking into account the ten month already served awaiting trial, he could be ellegible for release in just six weeks. He will serve a five-year probationary period during which he will not be allowed to gamble and must allow access on demand to all his electronic devices. He will be on a sex-offenders' register for 25 years.

And once again we see the inadequacy of the Catholic Church's vetting procedure that allows potential abusers into the priesthood, through the training process and out into the community where they are given trusted access to vulnerable children and adults.

  1. I have never won a penny from the lottery. To show my defiance of God not letting me win, next time I'll actually buy a lottery ticket. That'll put God in his place!
