Darwin Creationist Award 2013 - Tiebreaker!

The votes are in for the 2013 Darwin Creationist Award and we have an unprecedented three-way tie!

Three excellent candidates and it's all up for grabs. It's good to see Joe Cienkowski still in there as Joe seems to have been trying for this prestigious award for several years now, even writing semi-literate, and scientifically fully illiterate, books to support his claim.

I'm sorry to see my personal favourite, Errol Smythe, in all his different manifestations, failing to make the grade. Perhaps his multiple attempts to refute the children's fairy tale Cinderella, in the mistaken belief that it is a standard biology textbook dealing with evolution, was just too preposterous for most people's tastes. Regrettably, Errol seems to have a minder who kindly deletes his more insane tweets and he regularly changes his user name, so his little gems are hard to come by.

Anyway, good luck for next year Errol. I'm sure you'll be in with another chance.

Just a reminder of what constitutes a good Darwin Creationist Award candidate:

The Darwin Creationist Award goes to a person who, by a creationist tweet, website or blog so unutterably cretinous, has done most to improve the human memepool by helping to remove creationism from it.

So over to you. I'll leave the voting open for just a week so you have until 11 November to register your vote.

Voting is by poll at the end of the list.

If the theory of evolution is true- why is every girl still born a virgin? #justloudthoughts

Nominated by: @WillChrisHughes

Citation:Just when you think you've seen them all, another Creationist comes by and restores your faith in Creationist moronitudes ability to have no lower boundary.
2Candidate: @SWE_61

@mckinnleystokes how did science make the ocean? If we evolved from monkeys then all the monkeys should be gone

— Zacn (@SWE_61) July 22, 2013 6:32 AM

Submitted by: @neiljhenry

Citation: It's not so much the routine ignorance and misinformation about monkeys and evolution which makes this an outstanding candidate as the belief that evolution has something to do with ocean formation. Guaranteed to have Creationists nodding in agreement and normal people laughing out loud.
3Candidate: @JoeCienkowski

@tony_oliver @RosaRubicondior @TakeThatDarwin atheism teaches a cell grew legs, arms, penises and vaginas. In what way is this inaccurate?

— Joe Cienkowski (@JoeCienkowski) July 18, 2013

@UC_george @tony_oliver @RosaRubicondior @TakeThatDarwin we observe fertilized eggs becoming organisms, but ONLY with human counterparts

— Joe Cienkowski (@JoeCienkowski) July 18, 2013

Submitted by: @UC_george

Citation: Another very worthy entry from 'conviction' Creationist, Joe Cienkowski. It's typical of Dopey Joe's invented gibberish, of course. He is still trying to push his brilliant new lie about what atheists claim - that cells sprout genitalia and limbs - and refuting it with his own invention that only humans develop from fertilized eggs.

Joe tries to earn a living emulating his hero, the convicted fraudster Kent Hovind. He spends a great deal of his time making up things like this and claiming they're what science or evolution or Atheism say, and writing 'books' about it which he tries to hawk to anyone ignorant and credulous enough to give him money. When challenged he normally just repeats his claim, eventually becoming abusive and blocking his opponent.

He also likes tweeting things about vaginas and penises. His tweets have become increasingly bizarre over the last year or so.

  1. Specimen #2 would've won, hands down, if it had stuck to science + ocean.

Sticking to the dog-eared pages of "The Big Book of 'Gotcha' questions to Ask Atheists" is so lazy that "not even trying" is more work in comparison.

  2. Again, a really difficult choice. I'm cutting Big Couch (Magna Sofa) a little slack since he might have somehow gotten hold of a book on Lysenko and mistaken it for the real theory of evolution -- in that context his tweet would make a sort of sense.

Joe Cienkowski's ignorance of biology makes the average creationist look like Richard Dawkins. Hopefully his fascination with penises and vaginas will eventually move in a healthier direction.

In the end I voted for Zacn, for managing to squeeze two distinct and utterly stupid non-sequiturs into such a small number of words.
