Q. When is a false prophet not a false prophet?
A. When he makes a false prophecy, obviously!
Pastor Jeremiah Johnson, of Behold the Man Ministries in Lakeland, Florida, is a Trump-supporting evangelical, preaching the 'prosperity gospel', and self-proclaimed prophet who recently declared that Dr Anthony Fauci had been sent by Satan to thwart Donald Trump.
He also prophesied that a businessman would become a millionaire based on what he said was a "sign from God".
The problem was, the man went bankrupt shortly afterwards.
Now Pastor Johnson is claiming this proves his prophecy was true, because... wait for it.... this is a test from God to make sure the man is fit to become a millionaire!
How handy those 'tests from God' are!
According to Johnson, in his livestream broadcast last Sunday:
Years ago, I prophesied to a man in a meeting — I got his name, the Lord showed me a large business, he was gonna become a multi-millionaire, I mean, tremendous! I mean, it was probably, like, the greatest prosperity [unintelligible] I ever gave. I mean, I could have preached with the best of them. This came on me.
He called the office five days later and said, “You’re a false prophet. My company just went bankrupt.”
Now, listen to what I’ve been teaching you today by the Word of God. I said, “Brother, I actually believe now, after what you’ve told me, that that was the Word of the Lord.” I measure prophetic accuracy by how much warfare follows it.
I said, “I’m now convinced that is the Word of the Lord. Because now it’s getting tested! Now God is going to strip you down, and humble you, and really see where your heart’s at! Can you really steward those millions?”
No, but we just want the word of the Lord in that week. Money from Heaven. Money cometh. Whatever.
In August 2015, Johnson revealed that God had told him he had sent Donald Trump to prepare for the imminent return of Jesus:
The Holy Spirit spoke to me and said, ‘Trump shall become My trumpet to the American people, for he possesses qualities that are even hard to find in My people these days. Trump does not fear man nor will he allow deception and lies to go unnoticed. I am going to use him to expose darkness and perversion in America like never before, but you must understand that he is like a bull in a china closet. Many will want to throw him away because he will disturb their sense of peace and tranquility, but you must listen through the bantering to discover the truth that I will speak through him. I will use the wealth that I have given him to expose and launch investigations searching for the truth. Just as I raised up Cyrus to fulfill My purposes and plans, so have I raised up Trump to fulfill my purposes and plans prior to the 2016 election.'
He went on to say:
I will not attempt to defend myself here, I will leave that up to the Lord Jesus now and when I stand before Him and give an account for every word I’ve spoken. The goal of this post is to strictly help those who read the article and have questions and what largely appears to be a gross misinterpretation of what was published. Some Christians appear to be absolutely infuriated at the thought or prophetic word that God is going to use Donald Trump as a Trumpet to expose darkness and bring truth because of His moral background and political views. Perhaps God not being limited, subjected, and dependent to who human beings think He should use for His glory reveals their own issues with God, not a prophetic word. I, like many of you, was shocked by the word I received regarding Donald Trump. Trust me when I say it was given with fear and trembling. Again, I am not called to prophesy what I think or what my opinion is. I simply deliver the word of the Lord and encourage the saints to test and judge what has been spoken. I will publicly repent to the body of Christ if what was prophesied does not come to pass.
So, even when Pastor Johnson is wrong, he's still right and his false prophecies are not false. Presumably, even when you give Pastor Johnson lots of money on his assurance that God will reward you with great wealth, and nothing happens, this doesn't mean he took your money under false pretenses; it means God is waiting for you to pass some test or other to make sure you deserve the wealth that will surely come your way - real soon!
And even if he is wrong he will just say sorry to Jesus.
